Support us
We are looking for individuals, families, groups or businesses who would like to adopt a book or a shelf. This will help us to continue developing, conserving, protecting and sharing our collections!
Adopt your book or shelf on the forms below.
You can pay by PayPal, credit card or cheque.
We hope to raise £130,000 towards the Endowment Fund with the Adopt a Book Scheme.
Thank you very much for your support!

Making your donation go further
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is matching every donation to the Adopt-a-Book scheme until 31 August 2023, which means your donation will go much further to help the Library.
If you are a UK taxpayer ticking the Gift Aid box provides an additional cash boost.
For example, a donation of £100 with Gift Aid of £25, is matched by the NLHF and will generate a donation of £250 to the Library.

Benefits
When you adopt a book, you will receive a certificate, and a bookplate will be inserted inside the book.
When you adopt a shelf, you will receive a certificate and details of the books on the shelf.
In both cases, your donation will be recorded in the Library’s online catalogue. As donors, you are very welcome to visit the Library to see ‘your own’ book or shelf in the Long Room.
