Adopt a book or a shelf, and help us to continue developing, conserving, protecting and sharing our collections!

We hope to raise £130,000 with the Adopt a Book Scheme.

Making your donation go further

It you tick the Gift Aid box, your donation will go much further to help the Library.

Donating through Gift Aid means we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra.

For example, a donation of £100 with Gift Aid of £25 will generate a donation of £250 to the Library.

Benefits

When you adopt a book or shelf, you will receive a commemorative certificate, and a bookplate will be inserted inside the book (s).

In both cases, your donation will be recorded in the Library’s in-house and online catalogue. As donors, you are very welcome to visit the Library to see ‘your own’ book or shelf in the Long Room.

Donate £50 : staff will choose a book for you

Donate £100 : staff will choose a book for you on a certain subject.

Donate £250, £500, £1,000 or £1,500+ : choose a book from the list below.

Donate £250 or more : choose your own book from the main catalogue !

On the adopt-a-book form below, simply add your chosen subject area or the book’s Object Number!

You can pay by PayPal, credit card or cheque.

Fill out the complete form, including any book or shelf number on the reverse, if you want to adopt.
