The Library is hosting a morning of mindfulness in the Long Room with Judith Greene from ‘Judith Greene Mindfulness’ on Saturday 18 November 2023 from 10.00am to 12.00pm.
Our Georgian building carries a Greek inscription above the entrance door, which means The Healing Place of the Soul. We hope that both the building and our collections will encourage a feeling of wellbeing and lead to an awareness of self-care.
Judith holds a Diploma in Teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Interventions from the Mindfulness Centre in Dublin.
Together with our Education and Outreach Officer Ursula, she has chosen a selection of texts and poetry to have available on the day.
Being from Armagh I have always been in awe of this beautiful building, and I am delighted to work with the Library to develop a deeply relaxing morning of self-care. I will be weaving carefully chosen text and wisdom held in the Library’s extensive collection into gentle mindfulness meditation and activities.
Stepping through the door of this historic library you can’t help but feel a sense of calm and tranquillity and to share some of Archbishop Robinson’s very own collection from the 18th century, alongside local 20th century poets in this space will be a wonderful and unique experience.’

It is a pleasure to be working with Judith on such an authentic and appropriate project for Armagh Robinson Library. The building itself offers the perfect backdrop as a silent space for meditation through literary reflection.
Indeed, many visitors, when entering the Library for the first time, immediately comment on the stillness of the atmosphere, which is encompassed by its diverse collection of books, many of which contain philosophical mindsets, based on the life experiences, travels and scholarly wisdom of authors from an enlightenment period.”

The morning is suitable for both beginners and the experienced in meditation/mindfulness. Refreshments, including locally produced warmed spiced apple cordial, will be served.
Tickets are £20 per person. Booking is essential, with payment required at the time of booking.
