Out of This World – Family Fun Activities

To mark 50 years since the first moon landing, the Library and No 5 will host an Out of this World afternoon of free family-friendly space-themed activities on Saturday, 20 July, from 12 to 4.

Delivered in partnership with Science Starz, and funded by the The Royal Society, children can build a moon buggy, guess the footprint on the moon, find out about what astronauts eat in space, or make and launch their own rocket!

Visitors will also be able to view a temporary exhibition on the moon landing and astronomy in the subsequent decade, part of a larger exhibition – ‘Above and Beyond: Making Sense of the Universe for 100 Years’. Located at 5 different venues within Armagh City, this exhibition showcases  the most significant breakthroughs that have shaped science, technology and culture during the last century.

Pre-booking is not required – just turn up between 12 and 4, and enjoy the drop-in activities!

There will be lots of other events and activities within Armagh City on the same day, for instance, at the Planetarium, as well as a giant ‘Museum of the Moon’ on the Mall.
