On Friday 25 January the assistant keeper and archivist gave a presentation to MA students at Queen’s University to inform them of the collections at Armagh Public Library. Today a select group of students visited the Library in person, with Senior Lecturer Moyra Haslett, to explore the collections on their chosen subjects. It was a wonderfully busy and very fruitful morning for both staff and visitors, with many smiles on unexpected discoveries!
Address to the reader on the inside board of a compilation of 18th Century newspapers, collected by Henry Irwin:
“Pray do not abuse or be careless of this book, if you wish for knowledge, are fond of elegance and variety. It is the best history of the times, and not tedious. I have taken pains and trouble to prepare and fit it up (with my own hands) for my own, for others and your amusement. H.I.”
