Both the Library and No 5 will be open for European Heritage Open Days, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September 2023 :
Saturday 9 September: 11.00am – 6.00pm
Sunday 10 September: 2.00pm – 6.00pm
The whole family is invited to visit the Library and No 5 to see the fine Georgian buildings and the displays inside.
To connect with the Food and Cider Festival, we will have a modest exhibition in the Library on the local links with apple-growing and cider-making.
Also on show will another small exhibition Global Voices, Local Choices, which involved local Ukrainian families. Who would have thought that a comb from the Solomon Islands would make such a powerful connection with traditional Ukrainian embroidery!
For older children, there are touch screen quizzes in No 5, and treasure hunts in the Library and, for the under-fives, toys and books to enjoy, as part of the ‘Playful Museums’ initiative.
As both the Library and No 5 are working to become a Dementia Friendly Museum, those living with dementia and their carers will be very welcome.
