The Armagh meeting of the Church of Ireland Historical Society was held on Saturday 7 May in the Library. The speakers were Professor Marie Therese Flanagan on ‘Episcopal culture in the twelfth-century Irish church’; Ms Suzanne Forbes on ‘Publick and Solemn Acknowledgements: occasional days of prayer, fasting and thanksgiving in Ireland, 1689-1702’; Professor Andrew Carpenter on ‘The verse in Marsh’s Library: sacred, secular, satirical, and (even) saucy’ and Mr George Woodman on ‘An unlikely devotional ecumenist: Richard Mant and his translations from the Roman Breviary’.
